Alan Dodson is a well trained and experienced Director of Wedding Entertainment and Master of Ceremonies and has been entertaining at and producing unique events for over 35 years. He has also performed as a voice talent on radio and television nationwide and has produced highly successful advertising programs for international companies. Alan specializes in creating amazing weddings, and is the Owner and co-producer of the Tri-Cities Bridal Show (Now in the 33rd year of operation). Alan has performed at thousands of weddings and special events and consistently leads as one of the top wedding entertainers nationally and in his regional market. In 2016 he was voted “Best Wedding Entertainer in Tennessee!” and ranked 14th in the United States! His services are in demand across the United States. Due to his travel, training and speaking schedule, he is only accepting limited numbers of weddings and special events at which to perform. He is a member of the National Association of Mobile Entertainers.
Alan is also VP Operations for Application Electronics Labs representing several leading companies, including LD Systems, Ultrasone Headphones, Cameo Lighting, Feur Germany and Voyz audio products as well as ProX Live Performance Equipment.
Alan was a founding officer of the East Tennessee Chapter of the American Disc Jockey Association (ADJA), and is a Past President. He served on the advisory board of the Karaoke Coalition and as a consultant to several international companies that produce products for the entertainment industry including Feur Germany, Voyz Audio, Tricerasoft, Eternal Lighting, LD Systems, Ultrasone, Cameo Lighting, Virtual DJ, Promo Only and others.
Alan began his DJ performance and sales career at WIDJ Radio in St. Ignace, Michigan in 1972 as Sales Manager and on-air personality. He continued to run sales divisions for several other radio stations through the years and left the radio industry after a successful startup and rebranding of WEYE Radio in Surgoinsville, TN serving the Tri Cities Region of East Tennessee and SW VIrginia. This was the time, after many years of operating a part-time mobile DJ business that he decided to specialize in weddings on a full time basis.
As the author of hundreds articles for business and trade magazines on sales, marketing, social media and special events, Alan is uniquely qualified to speak and teach groups, both small and large. He currently is the Chief Editor of ProMobileDJ.com and a contributing writer for Pro Mobile DJ, WedLock Magazine, Mobile Beat and others, he regularly speaks on a variety of subjects relating to sales & marketing, social media and internet usage for all types of businesses. He has been a featured speaker at the Mobile Beat DJ Conference, the Canadian Disc Jockey Show, ARMDJS, Midwest DJ Live, the Lighting Symposium and other regional, national and international expos. He is endorsed by the Canadian Professional Disc Jockey Association (CPDJA) as a Training Partner. Alan teaches mobile entertainers and other event professionals how to excel at their craft and teaches Master of Ceremony and public speaking skills.
Alan is also a Personal Chef and an instructor in the culinary department at the S.W. Virginia Higher Education Center.
